C’est avec fierté que nous avons appris en fin d’après-midi du vendredi 29 juin 2012 à Saint Petersburg en Russie,  le classement de la ville de RABAT au patrimoine mondiale de l’Humanité. RABAT, la capitale du Royaume du Maroc  a séduit à l’unanimité les 21 membres du jury de l’UNESCO grâce à un urbanisme respectueux de l’héritage historique de la ville et à la valeur des sites proposés pour ce classement allant de la nécropole du Chellah, la Kasbah des Oudayas en passant par la médina andalouse, les remparts, les jardins historiques à l’architecture du 20 ème  siècle.

Rabat, model city of green cities

Renowned to be a green conglomeration, Rabat, which was chosen by the American association Earth Day Network, as " first city " for the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Day of the Earth, consolidates its vocation by valuing its urban and outer-urban green spaces.
With the next reopening of the garden of botanical tries, Rabat, which will be declared first green city of Morocco, digs more the distance with the other cities of the Kingdom in environmental protection and in development of the green spaces.
Rabat which is strewed by not less than 260 ha with urban and outer-urban green spaces and a 1.063 ha covering green belt, seems well provided as regards most of the other cities of the kingdom which, in the absence of environmental policy, undergo at the moment the repercussions of a galloping urbanization.
